CAN Group unveils Asset Integrity Management Unit

CAN Group unveils Asset Integrity Management Unit

Aberdeen based CAN, has today unveiled a separate business unit called ENGTEQ, which will specialise in asset integrity management and enhanced specialist engineering services for clients.

ENGTEQ is an evolution of the services previously offered over the past three decades within the CAN Group, bringing together CAN’s integrity management and engineering services into one standalone business unit. These two entities will be operated and managed independently, but have the backing and support of the wider CAN group.

ENGTEQ has a workforce of 180 employees, 100 of which will be moving into a bespoke, £5m, state-of-the-art engineering centre in Aberdeen. The business unit will be led by the engineering director Simon Hurst who has worked with CAN over the past five years and has developed a highly qualified and skilled engineering capability that is ideally placed to manage the challenges of maturing oil and gas assets.

Commenting on ENGTEQ, Innes Walker, CAN Group director said, “The rationale behind separating our offering was to bring a clearer focus and differentiation to the asset integrity engineering services we provide. This aims to highlight the distinct and independently managed services, which can be tailored to match the needs and requirements of our clients.

Since we were established in 1986 the group has grown significantly as a result of a strong track record in safety, delivery and being at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector. ENGTEQ will continue to build on this reputation and over the next 12 months expects to recruit an additional 40 employees across integrity management, pipelines, structural and corrosion disciplines.”

The group firmly believes the creation of ENGTEQ presents strong growth opportunities in the UK and internationally. Over the past 15 years the group has been delivering high-end integrity services to major oil and gas operators. The medium term goals for the business unit will focus on further extending its presence in key geographic markets.

Simon Hurst, engineering director at ENGTEQ believes, “We have been delivering these services for many years from our hub in Aberdeen and the creation of a specialist unit is a validation of our success in building a centre of excellence from which we can further leverage internationally. Our goal is to be the partner of choice, we achieve this by adopting a holistic approach, which results in consistent delivery and increasing certainty for clients.”
