Double Safety Success for CAN Group

CAN Group are pleased to announce the award of its eighth consecutive International Safety Award with merit from The British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe throughout 2015.

Safety is of paramount importance to CAN Group, and this award recognises its dedication to ensure workplace safety and highlights its strong health and safety performance.

Now in their 58th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations around the world that have demonstrated commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill-health.

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated CAN Group on its success: "The British Safety Council commends CAN Group on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and effort to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health. Our warmest congratulations."

"The British Safety Council's vision is that no one should be injured or made ill by work, anywhere in the world. Across all of the winning organisations are examples of dedication and hard work to ensure that the risk of injury and ill health is prevented. We commend the winning organisations and urge them to continue working with us to ensure that our vision becomes a reality."

In addition to this award, CAN are delighted to announce that Dave Thomson, one of its Offshore Inspection Engineers and Elected Safety Representative, has been short-listed for the 2016 Health and Safety Champion Award in recognition of his contribution to keeping workers and workplaces healthy and safe every day.

Mike Robinson commented: "On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council, I warmly congratulate these health and safety achievers, of all ages, who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to helping to manage risks to people's health, safety and welfare in their workplaces. This years short-list of nominations is evidence of a great deal of individual effort by people who have gone the extra mile over and above their professional roles and responsibilities. Among the nominees are young workers who will be tomorrow's health and safety champions."

Best of luck to Dave at the Gala Dinner which will take place in May.
