CAN pledge to be part of the solution

CAN have joined a UK initiative to promote health & safety in the workplace by signing up to a new HSE campaign called 'Be Part of the Solution'.

The HSE is the UK national regulatory body responsible for promoting the cause of better health and safety at work. A new HSE board was formed in 2008 following a merger with the Health & Safety Commission (HSC), and as a result, one of the first undertakings of the new board was to reaffirm the direction of health & safety
within the UK.

To achieve this, the HSE launched a campaign asking organisations operating in the UK to agree to a pledge to promote safe working practices.

The 'Be Part of the Solution' pledge asks organisations to:
  • Agree to play their part in reducing the numbers of work-related deaths, injuries and ill-health in Great Britain
  • Put health and safety at the heart of what they do and to take a common sense approach to health and safety
  • Commit to debunking myths around health and safety that trivialise the impact of injuries, ill health and deaths on individuals and their families
  • Recognise the importance of health and safety in difficult economic times and the dangers of complacency
  • Pledge to work with the Health and Safety Executive and its partners to Be Part of the Solution


HSE Strategy
Safety is at the forefront of all CAN's activities which was recognised in 2008 with the award of an International Safety accolade on behalf of the British Safety Council. CAN have joined the nation-wide pledge, which serves across a diversity of industries, as further demonstration to CAN's commitment towards maintaining safe operations for all of their stakeholders within the UKCS.
