Specialist NDT Appreciation Workshop

CAN delivered a series of Specialist NDT Appreciation Workshops to industry as part of continuous professional development within the engineering discipline.

The Specialist NDT Appreciation Workshops were initially designed as an internal training programme to increase the knowledge base of CAN's engineers. A decision was made following the success of the staff training programme to offer the Specialist NDT workshop to the integrity and inspection industry.

The workshop, delivered by CAN's Senior Project Engineer Dave Pirie, comprised of both theoretical and practical elements of Specialist NDT including an overview of how these techniques are an essential requirement for asset reliability.

The Specialist NDT Appreciation Workshop covered the following techniques and equipment:
  • Computed Radiography
  • Corrosion Mapping (automated & manual)
  • Hydrotector
  • Magnetic Flux Leakage
  • Small Controlled Area Radiography
  • Thermography
  • Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD)
  • Tube Inspection
CAN will host several Specialist NDT Appreciation Workshops throughout the course of the year.
