CAN reach two million man-hour milestone without an LTIOn the 1st October 2009, CAN achieved a significant milestone of 2 million man-hours without a single Lost Time Incident (LTI).This is a great achievement by everyone at CAN as this could only have been met through the continued commitment and cooperation of all staff. What CAN as a company strives to do is ultimately to ensure all our employees, wherever they work, return home in the same condition they came to work in. CAN's last LTI was back in October 2007 and the integrity and inspection management contractor successfully completed 2008 without a single LTI. On hearing the news, the British Safety Council’s Interim Chief Executive commented: ‘Understanding the requirements for the effective management of safety is only one part of the equation; maintaining them and delivering sustained safe practice is truly challenging. CAN’s achievement is a credit to their commitment to best practice and sets a standard for other organisations to aspire to’. Commenting on behalf of CAN, Gillian Farrell, QHSE Manager, commented on the success to date and set targets for more milestones going forward: “It’s a fantastic achievement for all CAN staff and ultimately we couldn’t do it without everybody’s input and co-operation. It is a great milestone, particularly as the majority of our work occurs offshore, but the most important thing is that we don’t lose our focus now. Our plan is to continue doing what we’re doing.
