CAN celebrate international safety accolade

CAN recently celebrated winning an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council in recognition of their commitment and impressive record for safety performance in 2008.
The International Safety Award scheme is devised to recognise and reward organisations that demonstrate an international commitment towards improving health, safety and environmental operations across all levels of an organisation. CAN successfully met the criteria following a rigorous assessment of health and safety practices made during 2008 and proudly attended the award ceremony in May. In receiving the award Innes Walker, Commercial Director at CAN, commented: “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award in recognition of our safety record. Safety is intrinsic across all of CAN’s operations and we will continue to build on the success of this achievement throughout the UK oil & gas industry". CAN's QHSE department are already involved in the development of a safety campaign in conjunction with several clients which is designed to raise awareness about particular health and safety issues. |

The International Safety Award comes at a time when CAN received a five year extension to a non-destructive testing and rope access contract at a major UK refinery. CAN's safety record was a key factor in the decision to extend the contract particularly because no significant incidents or accidents have occurred during CAN's time on site.
