CAN Do Placements: A Spotlight on Finlay Hyslop 

Hear from Business and Economic student Finlay Hyslop, as he shares his experience as a Business Administration Intern here at CAN. 

Background

"I am currently in my 3rd year of university studying Business and Economics at Strathclyde University and part of my course involves gaining experience within an organisation through, an internship, which I had the opportunity to do  at CAN. Taking on a placement exceeded my expectations, it allowed me to gain valuable experiences, such as presenting. 

My Journey at CAN

My work experience at CAN took place over  a month, completing 100 hours of work which was a key requirement of the course curriculum. I joined the company’s HR team and was asked to work on projects that were both useful and very enjoyable to complete. I was tasked with a research project which involved evaluating an internal programme alongside current economic and industry trends, and proposing recommended options based on my research which I presented to the company directors.

Every colleague I interacted with wasn’t just only lovely to me, but willing to help as much as they possibly could. I understood the company's culture, and how it felt like a family. The company looks to help employees better themselves by pushing them whilst also providing any necessary support. 

I was extremely happy with my placement at CAN, for both the skills I got out of it and the enjoyment I had when completing it. I have gained valuable lessons and experiences that will be vital for my future education and career. I highly recommend anyone to take a placement at CAN as it’s a wonderful place to work and a great company to help you prepare yourself for your future endeavours."
