Jack Lambley, a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering student at Robert Gordon University, takes a moment to reflect on his summer placement journey as a Graduate Inspection Engineer at ENGTEQ, CAN Group’s Engineering business stream.

“At school, I always enjoyed math’s and science which led me to pursue Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at university. I was lucky enough to be accepted on to the fast-track master’s course which provides the opportunity to undertake mandatory summer placements which are a fantastic way to personally and professionally develop as well as gain a lot of valuable experience. 

My Journey at ENGTEQ

I have thoroughly enjoyed my summer placement thus far at ENGTEQ, it has been a great experience where I have been able to apply the knowledge I have gained at university as well as develop new skills and learn a lot about the industry. Having the opportunity to contribute towards various tasks and projects is extremely rewarding and provides invaluable experience that I am extremely grateful to have had the chance to gain.

Words of Wisdom

The advice I would give to someone looking to follow a similar path is to 100% go for it if the opportunity arises. Being surrounded by people with lots of experience in the industry is a great opportunity to not only learn, but to develop professionally. Summer placements/internships are a great opportunity to get your foot in the door as well as gain extremely valuable experience that can have a very positive effect on your future.
