Senior Workpack Writer/ CAD Drafter

The CAN Group of companies are leading providers in Engineering, Integrity, Inspection and Maintenance solutions to the energy industry worldwide

We are seeking dynamic and experienced professionals to join our Turnaround Team as part of an ongoing project supporting the operational readiness and shutdown planning of offshore assets targeted for decommissioning. These positions are based in Luanda, Angola. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful team delivering critical shutdown and turnaround activities in a dynamic offshore environment.

The Senior Workpack Writer / CAD Drafter will be responsible for developing comprehensive, scope-specific work packs for turnaround campaigns, ensuring all technical, safety, and procedural requirements are fully integrated to support safe and effective execution. This is a key field-based role for candidates with strong documentation, technical writing, and turnaround execution knowledge. You'll collaborate with engineers, planners, and offshore teams to ensure all tasks are clearly defined, risk-assessed, and ready for safe execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify and define turnaround work scopes.
  • Gather and incorporate relevant technical documentation: P&IDs, plot plans, isometrics, vendor drawings, and equipment datasheets.
  • Evaluate site conditions and photograph areas relevant to access, cranage, scaffolding, equipment removal, etc.
  • Mark up drawings and photos to identify work boundaries and note safety mitigations.
  • Develop full work pack documentation including permits, JSAs, task instructions, MTOs, QCPs, VWRs, and associated procedures.
  • Integrate isolation packages including LOTO and blind lists; identify related isolation materials for MTO inclusion.
  • Maintain master WP plot plans and load all relevant documentation into appropriate series folders (Series 4–8).
  • Liaise with inspectors to integrate inspection and repair procedures into work packs.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers on MTO validation and procurement readiness.
  • Clearly define pre- and post-job phases and develop a logical sequence of work.
  • Ensure alignment with test plans, inspection requirements, safety standards, and operational prerequisites.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong background in shutdown or turnaround documentation within oil and gas.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing documentation systems.
  • Proven experience preparing technical work packs with embedded QA/QC and HSE compliance.
  • Comfortable interfacing with multi-discipline engineering teams and site personnel.
  • Previous international field work experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of shutdown scope development, prioritisation, and field execution support
