Trainee NDT Technician

The CAN Group of companies are leading providers in Engineering, Integrity, Inspection and Maintenance solutions to the energy industry worldwide. 

We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee NDT Technician to work at our client’s onshore facility at Corrib, Ireland, as part of a 3-year development program. The position would ideally suit an existing site based member of staff with demonstrable aptitude for development into a technical role within an established team.    

As a trainee NDT technician your role will be a mix of office and site based activities.  The position will include a significant training program, involving time spent at Aberdeen based training centres. 

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

Essential

  • Safety minded attiude

  • Possess a positive and mature outlook 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Flexible approach to working 

  • Enthusiastic and highly self-motivated along with a proactive approach 

  • Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal/ client interfacing skills 

  • Ability to work under a degree of pressure

  • Good educational background with Level 3 Junior Certificate in English, Maths and a 

  • Science/Technology based subject 

  • Work experience in a technical or site based capacity

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and ability to learn and operate bespoke databases 

  • Possess a basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles & practices 

  • Ability to pass the mandatory medical and other industry safety training 

  • Willingness and capability to build on existing skills and develop professionally 

  • Willingness to attend courses as and when required

Desirable

  • Strong desire for a Technical / Engineering role 

  • Formal further education qualification in a technical discipline

  • NDT qualification or experience

  • Report writing experience

  • Rope Access qualification or experience

  • Preference given to candidates already based at site and/ or from the local area
