Turnaround Planner - Angola

 

The CAN Group of companies are leading providers in Engineering, Integrity, Inspection and Maintenance solutions to the energy industry worldwide

We are seeking dynamic and experienced professionals to join our Turnaround Team as part of an ongoing project supporting the operational readiness and shutdown planning of offshore assets targeted for decommissioning. These positions are based in Cabinda, Angola within our clients Asset Integrity & Turnaround department on a 28/28 rotational basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful team delivering critical shutdown and turnaround activities in a dynamic offshore environment.

We’re currently hiring for the following key roles across planning, engineering, field coordination, and operational execution. Key Job Responsibilities (KJRs’) are noted below:

 

Turnaround Planner (6B1498):

The Turnaround Planner plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and coordinated planning and execution of asset turnaround (TA) events. This position is responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining detailed Primavera schedules that align with approved milestones and deliverables, ensuring full synergy between Operations, Asset Integrity, Production Maintenance, Engineering, and Construction teams. Acting as the central link between field execution and planning functions, the Turnaround Planner ensures that all work scopes, schedules, and resources are fully validated, optimized, and synchronized with both OPEX and CAPEX activities. Through proactive coordination with IOC Planners, TA Project Engineers, Operations Advisors, and Field Supervisors, the Planner upholds schedule integrity, drives compliance with execution milestones, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across the turnaround lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares schedule of TA compliance work for execution campaign synergy.
  • Ensures that all execution details are initiated for TA work scope.
  • Interfaces with IOC Planners in each asset to ensure work program synergies are achieved.
  • Develops Class 1, 2, 3 schedules per IMPACT planning milestone schedule.
  • Responsible for developing a detailed fully integrated, resource loaded schedule utilizing Primavera.
  • Interacts with multi-discipline personnel during schedule development and execution, key personnel and base on Approved Worklists.
  • Tasks out detailed work packages into Primavera.
  • Provides daily / weekly progress, schedule and manpower reporting.
  • Opportunity to assist in additional facility projects and improvement teams.
  • Interfaces with FE Construction and IOC planning departments as required.
  • Responsible for obtaining schedule update validation from Field Execution Supervisors. When feasible, conducts field walkdowns of progress validation.
  • Coordinates with the TA Operations Advisor and Facilities Operations Rep (FOR) on detailed SCS scheduling steps. 
  • Coordinates with the TA Project Engineer, FE Construction Foreman & Production Maintenance Supervisor on detailed work pack scheduling steps and estimate validation.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining class 1, 2 and 3 schedules per phase.
  • Responsible to maintain the Scope Change Register and track all activities in conjunction with the Core Team Leader.
  • Ensures a detailed, integrated schedule (all OPEX & CAPEX schedules merged into one master) is created in accordance with the agreed milestone schedule. 
  • Provides daily schedule & manpower progress updating during Execution.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Extensive turnaround and shutdown planning experience within oil and gas production, processing, or refining environments.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 (advanced user level) with demonstrated ability to develop, integrate, and maintain resource-loaded and logic-linked schedules.
  • Strong understanding of TA phases (planning, execution, and close-out) and milestone-based schedule development (Class 1, 2, and 3).
  • Knowledge of work pack development and integration of detailed job plans into scheduling systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage complex worklists, schedule interdependencies, and progress tracking.
  • Proven ability to interface with field execution teams, validate progress, and conduct schedule performance reviews.
  • Experience managing Scope Change Registers and incorporating change control processes within the master schedule.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across IOC, Facilities, and TA teams.
  • Proficiency in reporting and dashboard creation, including daily and weekly progress, manpower, and critical path analysis.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, GEP SMART, or equivalent enterprise planning systems for work order and material tracking (advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in turnaround or project planning within the oil and gas industry.
  • Engineering or technical diploma/degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Strong field awareness and readiness to perform site walkdowns to validate progress and scope accuracy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, cost optimization, and schedule compliance within turnaround operations.
